Ezekiel Chapter 17
So the word of the Lord hit me up, saying,
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Ayo, son of man, spill a riddle and drop a parable for the squad of Israel;
Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;
And say, "The Lord God says: A fly eagle with massive wings, long and all feathery, swooped in from Lebanon, grabbed the top branch of the cedar tree."
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar: {divers...: Heb. embroidering}
He trimmed off the top of his fresh twigs and took it to a hustlin' place; he set it up in a city full of sellers.
He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.
He also snagged some seeds from the land and planted them in a lit field; he placed it by big waters, just like a willow tree.
He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed {it} by great waters, {and} set it {as} a willow tree. {planted...: Heb. put it in a field of seed}
And it thrived, became a chill vine, low-key spreading out, with branches pointing to him, roots vibing beneath: so it was a vine that made branches and shot out sprouts.
And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
Then there was this other dope eagle with big wings and mad feathers: and this vine leaned its roots towards him, shooting out branches for him to water it, no cap.
There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.
It got planted in solid soil by great waters, ready to pop off with branches and produce fruit, looking like a solid vine.
It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine. {soil: Heb. field}
Say this: "The Lord God says; Will it thrive? Will he not yank up its roots and chop off its fruit so it withers? It’ll totally wither, all the leaves gone, even without a big crew to pull it up."
Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.
Yeah, for real, being planted, will it thrive? It’ll straight up wither when the east wind hits it; it’ll wither in the grooves where it grew.
Yea, behold, {being} planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
Plus, the word of the Lord came to me again, saying,
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Tell the rebellious crew, "Don’t you get what this means? Peep it, the king of Babylon cruised to Jerusalem, snatched the king and his crew, and took them to Babylon;
Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these {things mean}? tell {them}, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
And he took some of the king’s seed, made a deal with him, and swore an oath: he also grabbed the strong ones from the land.
And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land: {taken an...: Heb. brought him to an oath}
So the kingdom might stay low-key, not hype itself too much, but by keeping his word, it might stand.
That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, {but} that by keeping of his covenant it might stand. {but...: Heb. to keep his covenant, to stand to it}
But he went rogue, sending his peeps to Egypt for horses and a big crew. Will he thrive? Can he escape doing such sus stuff? Or will he break the deal and get wrecked?
But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such {things}? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
As I live, says the Lord God, for sure in the spot where the king who made him king chills, he’s gonna die, ‘cause he dissed the oath and broke the deal, even right there in Babylon.
{As} I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place {where} the king {dwelleth} that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, {even} with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
And Pharaoh with his crew and big army won’t save him in the battle, stacking up defenses to wipe out a bunch of people:
Neither shall Pharaoh with {his} mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
Since he dissed the oath by breaking the deal, when he gave his hand and did all this, he won’t escape.
Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these {things}, he shall not escape.
So the Lord God says; as I live, my oath he dissed, my deal he broke, it’s gonna come back on his own head.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; {As} I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.
I’ll set my trap for him, he’ll get caught in my snare, and I’ll bring him to Babylon to handle him for his mess against me.
And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.
And all his runaways with their squads will fall by the sword, and those who stay will be scattered in all directions: and you’ll know that I, the Lord, have said it.
And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken {it}.
The Lord God says; I’ll take the highest branch of the tall cedar and set it up; I’ll snip off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and plant it on a high and dope mountain.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set {it}; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant {it} upon an high mountain and eminent:
On the peak of Israel’s mountain, I’ll plant it: it’ll make boughs, bear fruit, and be a solid cedar: and every bird will chill under it; in the shade of its branches, they’ll hang out.
In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
And all the trees in the field will know that I, the Lord, brought down the high tree, lifted the low tree, dried up the green tree, and made the dry tree thrive: I, the Lord, have said it and done it.
And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done {it}.
