He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. Rechab and Baanah, the sons of Rimmon, showed up to Ish-bosheth’s pad around noon while he was catching some serious Z’s.

David told his youngins to deal with it, and they took them out, chopped off their hands and feet, and hung them over the pool in Hebron. But they laid Ish-bosheth’s head to rest with Abner in Hebron.
