2 Peter Chapter 2
So there were some fake prophets in the crew, just like there’ll be sus teachers among you, trying to sneak in some whack heresies, even denying the Lord who purchased them, bringing quick destruction on themselves.
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
A whole lot of folks are gonna vibe with their sketchy ways; ‘cause of them, the truth is about to get roasted.
And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. {pernicious ways: or, lascivious ways, as some copies read}
And with their greedy speech, they’ll cash in on you: their judgment’s been waiting for ages, and their downfall is coming, no cap.
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
If God didn’t hold back on the angels who messed up, but sent them straight to the dark, prepping them for judgment;
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast {them} down to hell, and delivered {them} into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
And didn’t save the ancient world, but rescued Noah, the eighth dude, a preacher of solid vibes, bringing the flood upon the wicked;
And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth {person}, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
And turned Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, showing what happens when you live sus;
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned {them} with an overthrow, making {them} an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
And saved Lot, who was totally done with the toxic vibes of the wicked;
And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
(For that righteous dude living among them was getting his soul wrecked every day by their shady actions;)
(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed {his} righteous soul from day to day with {their} unlawful deeds;)
The Lord knows how to save the solid ones from temptation and keep the unjust on lock for judgment day to face punishment;
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
But especially those who are all about the flesh, chasing after dirty stuff, and don’t respect authority. They’re so full of themselves, talking trash about the important people.
But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous {are they}, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. {government: or, dominion}
Yet angels, who are way more powerful, don’t throw shade at them in front of the Lord.
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. {them: some read, themselves}
But these guys, like dumb animals meant to be trapped and destroyed, talk smack about things they don’t even understand; they’re gonna totally perish in their own chaos;
But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
They’ll get the reward for their bad vibes, like those who think it’s lit to party in the daylight. They’re just spots and blemishes, flexing their own lies while they chill with you;
And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, {as} they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots {they are} and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
With eyes full of lust, they can’t stop sinning; deceiving unstable souls: they’re all about greedy practices; cursed children;
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: {adultery: Gr. an adulteress}
Who left the right path, going off track, chasing Balaam’s way, who was all about the cash from unrighteousness;
Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam {the son} of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
But got called out for his mess: the dumb donkey spoke up for him, stopping the prophet’s madness.
But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
These are wells with no water, clouds stuck in a storm; darkness is saved for them forever.
These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
When they drop big talk full of vanity, they lure in those who just escaped from the error;
For when they speak great swelling {words} of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, {through much} wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. {clean: or, for a little, or, a while, as some read}
While they promise freedom, they’re trapped in corruption themselves: whoever is overpowered by someone is their servant.
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
If they’ve escaped the world’s chaos through knowing the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, then get tangled up again, it’s worse for them than before.
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
It would’ve been better for them to never have known the right path than to know it and then turn away from the holy command they received.
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known {it}, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
But it’s just like that real saying, The dog goes back to its own vomit; and the cleaned pig goes back to rolling in the mud.
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog {is} turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
