2 Kings Chapter 24
So, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, showed up and made Jehoiakim his servant for a solid three years, then dude straight up turned on him.
In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.
The Lord sent some squads, like the Chaldeans, Syrians, Moabites, and Ammonites, to mess up Judah, all based on what He had told the prophets.
And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servants the prophets. {by: Heb. by the hand of}
No cap, this went down in Judah 'cause the Lord said it would, to boot them outta His sight for Manasseh's sins, for real.
Surely at the commandment of the LORD came {this} upon Judah, to remove {them} out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;
Plus, he spilled innocent blood, filling Jerusalem with it; the Lord was definitely not forgiving that.
And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.
So, all the other things Jehoiakim did? It’s chronicled in the records of the kings of Judah, fr.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, {are} they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Jehoiakim kicked the bucket, and his son Jehoiachin took the throne.
So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.
The king of Egypt didn’t roll back ‘cause Babylon snagged all his land, from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates.
And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land: for the king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates all that pertained to the king of Egypt.
Jehoiachin was just 18 when he began ruling, and he repped Jerusalem for three months. His mom's name was Nehushta, daughter of Elnathan.
Jehoiachin {was} eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name {was} Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. {Jehoiachin: also called Jeconiah and Coniah}
He did wicked things in the Lord’s eyes, just like his pops, periodt.
And he did {that which was} evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.
At that point, Nebuchadnezzar's crew showed up at Jerusalem, and the city was totally under siege.
At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged. {was...: Heb. came into siege}
Nebuchadnezzar himself came through, and his squad surrounded the city.
And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it.
Jehoiachin, the king of Judah, went out to meet Nebuchadnezzar, along with his mom, crew, and officers; Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.
And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. {officers: or, eunuchs} {his reign: Nebuchadnezzar's eighth year}
They took all the treasures from the Lord’s house and the king’s pad, breaking all the gold stuff Solomon made for the temple, just like the Lord said.
And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
They took everyone from Jerusalem, including the princes and ten thousand strong dudes, leaving only the poorest of the land.
And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, {even} ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
Jehoiachin got taken to Babylon, along with the king's mom, wives, officers, and the land's mighty men; all of them were captured.
And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, {those} carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. {officers: or, eunuchs}
The king of Babylon grabbed 7,000 strong men and a thousand artisans and blacksmiths, all the war-ready folks, and brought them to Babylon.
And all the men of might, {even} seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths a thousand, all {that were} strong {and} apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiakim’s bro, the king instead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
Zedekiah was 21 when he started ruling, holding it down for eleven years in Jerusalem. His mom’s name was Hamutal, daughter of Jeremiah.
Zedekiah {was} twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name {was} Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
He did wicked things in the Lord’s eyes, just like Jehoiakim did, no cap.
And he did {that which was} evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
The Lord was furious, and it led to Zedekiah rebelling against the king of Babylon, getting booted from His presence.
For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
