1
Gen Z Vibe

So after all that went down, Sennacherib, the Assyrian king, rolled up on Judah and set up shop against the cities, thinking he could really show off.

Original Source

After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself. {to win...: Heb. to break them up}

2
Gen Z Vibe

When Hezekiah peeped that Sennacherib was pulling in to start some drama with Jerusalem,

Original Source

And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem, {he was...: Heb. his face was to war}

3
Gen Z Vibe

He gathered his crew and the strong homies to block the water sources outside the city, and they were totally down for him.

Original Source

He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which {were} without the city: and they did help him.

4
Gen Z Vibe

A whole squad came together to stop all the fountains and the stream running through the land, asking, "Why let the Assyrian kings roll up and find a bunch of water?"

Original Source

So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water? {ran: Heb. overflowed}

5
Gen Z Vibe

He also stepped up his game, fixing the broken wall, raising it to the towers, building another wall outside, and crafting tons of darts and shields.

Original Source

Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised {it} up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo {in} the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance. {darts: or, swords, or, weapons}

6
Gen Z Vibe

He put captains in charge of the crew, gathered everyone at the city gate, and hit them with a pep talk, saying,

Original Source

And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying, {spake...: Heb. he spoke to their heart}

7
Gen Z Vibe

"Be strong and courageous, don’t stress about the king of Assyria or his whole squad: we got more on our side than he does."

Original Source

Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that {is} with him: for {there be} more with us than with him:

8
Gen Z Vibe

He’s got the muscle crew; we got the Lord our God backing us, ready to handle our battles. And the people were vibing with Hezekiah’s words.

Original Source

With him {is} an arm of flesh; but with us {is} the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. {rested...: Heb. leaned}

9
Gen Z Vibe

After that, Sennacherib sent his homies to Jerusalem (while he was busy laying siege at Lachish with his whole crew) to Hezekiah and all Judah in Jerusalem, saying,

Original Source

After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he {himself laid siege} against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that {were} at Jerusalem, saying, {power: Heb. dominion}

10
Gen Z Vibe

"Sennacherib, king of Assyria, is asking: What are you relying on while you’re stuck in a siege in Jerusalem?"

Original Source

Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem? {siege: or, strong hold}

11
Gen Z Vibe

Yo, Hezekiah ain't trying to get you to just chill and starve, saying, "Our God will totally save us from the Assyrian king," right?

Original Source

Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

12
Gen Z Vibe

Didn’t Hezekiah tear down the high places and altars, telling Judah and Jerusalem, "Y'all gotta worship at one altar and burn incense there"?

Original Source

Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?

13
Gen Z Vibe

You don't know what me and my fam did to all those other peeps? Were their gods able to save them from my crew?

Original Source

Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of {other} lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?

14
Gen Z Vibe

Which of the gods from those nations my fam wrecked could save their people from me? Your God ain't got the juice to save you either.

Original Source

Who {was there} among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?

15
Gen Z Vibe

So don’t let Hezekiah fool you or change your mind, don’t even believe him: no god from any nation could save their crew from me or my fam, so your God ain't saving you either.

Original Source

Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?

16
Gen Z Vibe

And his crew kept talking trash about the Lord God and Hezekiah.

Original Source

And his servants spake yet {more} against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah.

17
Gen Z Vibe

He even sent letters dissing the Lord God of Israel, saying, "Just like the gods of other nations couldn't save their peeps, neither can Hezekiah's God save his people."

Original Source

He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of {other} lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.

18
Gen Z Vibe

Then they yelled loud in the Jews' language to the folks in Jerusalem on the wall, trying to scare them and mess with their vibes to take the city.

Original Source

Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews' speech unto the people of Jerusalem that {were} on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.

19
Gen Z Vibe

They were trashing the God of Jerusalem, just like they did with the gods of the earth, which are all just made by human hands.

Original Source

And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, {which were} the work of the hands of man.

20
Gen Z Vibe

Because of all this, King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah, son of Amoz, prayed and cried out to the heavens.

Original Source

And for this {cause} Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

21
Gen Z Vibe

And the Lord sent an angel, taking out all the top warriors and leaders in the Assyrian camp. Dude went back home, totally shook. When he hit up his god's crib, his own fam took him out with the sword.

Original Source

And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword. {slew...: Heb. made him fall}

22
Gen Z Vibe

So the Lord showed up for Hezekiah and the Jerusalem crew, saving them from Sennacherib and all the other threats, guiding them all the way.

Original Source

Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all {other}, and guided them on every side.

23
Gen Z Vibe

A bunch of peeps brought gifts to the Lord in Jerusalem and showed love to Hezekiah, making him a big deal in the eyes of all the nations from then on.

Original Source

And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth. {presents: Heb. precious things}

24
Gen Z Vibe

Back in the day, Hezekiah was really sick and prayed to the Lord; God spoke to him and gave him a sign.

Original Source

In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign. {gave...: or, wrought a miracle for him}

25
Gen Z Vibe

But Hezekiah didn’t give back love for all the good stuff God did for him; his heart got too big, so mad vibes hit him, Judah, and Jerusalem.

Original Source

But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit {done} unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

26
Gen Z Vibe

Still, Hezekiah kept it real for his pride, along with the Jerusalem crew, so God didn’t bring his anger during Hezekiah’s reign.

Original Source

Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, {both} he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah. {pride: Heb. lifting up}

27
Gen Z Vibe

Hezekiah had mad riches and respect; he flexed with treasuries full of silver, gold, precious stones, spices, shields, and all kinds of lit jewels.

Original Source

And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels; {pleasant...: Heb. instruments of desire}

28
Gen Z Vibe

He also built storehouses for all the grain, wine, and oil; plus, he had stables for all kinds of animals and pens for flocks.

Original Source

Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.

29
Gen Z Vibe

On top of that, he scored cities and tons of herds and flocks, 'cause God blessed him with mad resources.

Original Source

Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.

30
Gen Z Vibe

This same Hezekiah also blocked the upper water supply of Gihon and rerouted it straight to the west side of David's city. Hezekiah was thriving in everything he did.

Original Source

This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

31
Gen Z Vibe

So, when the Babylonian peeps hit him up to ask about the wild stuff going down, God stepped back for a minute to see what was really good in his heart.

Original Source

Howbeit in {the business of} the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was {done} in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all {that was} in his heart. {ambassadors: Heb. interpreters}

32
Gen Z Vibe

Now, all the cool things Hezekiah did, no cap, they’re in the vision of Isaiah, the prophet dude, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

Original Source

Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they {are} written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, {and} in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. {goodness: Heb. kindnesses}

33
Gen Z Vibe

Hezekiah passed away and got laid to rest in the flyest tombs of David’s fam, and all of Judah and Jerusalem showed mad respect at his funeral. Then his son Manasseh took over.

Original Source

And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead. {chiefest: or, highest}
