So Abijah passed away and was laid to rest with his ancestors in the city of David. His son Asa took over the throne. For a solid decade, things were chill.

So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.

He urged Judah to seek the Lord God of their families and to follow His laws.

Asa also cleaned up all the high places and idols from Judah's cities. The kingdom was vibing under his reign.

He fortified cities in Judah since the land was peaceful, and there was no drama; the Lord had blessed him with that vibe.

And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.

Asa was like, "Yo Judah, let’s build these cities and set up walls, towers, gates, and bars while the land is still ours; we’ve been seeking the Lord, and He’s given us peace." So they built and thrived.

Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about {them} walls, and towers, gates, and bars, {while} the land {is} yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought {him}, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

Asa and his crew chased them to Gerar, and the Ethiopians were wrecked, couldn’t recover; they were destroyed before the Lord and His army, and they took a ton of loot.

They smashed all the cities around Gerar because the fear of the Lord hit them; they looted all those cities since there was mad spoil.
