1 Samuel Chapter 2
Hannah was out here praying, like, "My heart's vibin' with the Lord, I’m feeling blessed, and I'm ready to confront my haters 'cause I’m all about that salvation wave."
And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
Ain't nobody as holy as the Lord; for real, there's no one else like Him, and our God is the ultimate foundation.
{There is} none holy as the LORD: for {there is} none beside thee: neither {is there} any rock like our God.
Chill on the boasting; don’t let that arrogance spill from your mouth. The Lord knows the deal, and He watches all the hustle.
Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let {not} arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD {is} a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. {arrogancy: Heb. hard}
The mighty bows are totally broken, but those who stumbled are getting that strength lift.
The bows of the mighty men {are} broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
The full peeps are grinding for some cash, while the starving are thriving; even the barren is flexing seven kids, while the ones with many are kinda struggling.
{They that were} full have hired out themselves for bread; and {they that were} hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.
The Lord's got the clout to take life and give it back; He can bring you down low or raise you up, no cap.
The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
The Lord can make you broke or rich; He'll put you in check or elevate you, that's just facts.
The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
He’s pulling the needy from the dirt and lifting up the beggar from the ground, placing them among the kings, 'cause the earth is His and He’s got it all on lock.
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, {and} lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set {them} among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth {are} the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.
He’s got the righteous covered, and the wicked will stay quiet in the shadows; no one can flex on His power.
He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
The Lord’s enemies are getting wrecked; He’s about to drop some thunder from the skies, judging the whole earth, giving mad strength to His king and lifting up His chosen one.
The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
Elkanah bounced back to Ramah to chill at his place. The kid was out here serving the Lord in front of Eli, the priest.
And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the LORD before Eli the priest.
But Eli’s sons? Major sus vibes; they didn’t even know the Lord.
Now the sons of Eli {were} sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.
The priests had this whole setup: when someone brought a sacrifice, the priest’s homie showed up while the meat was grilling, flexing a three-pronged hook.
And the priests' custom with the people {was, that}, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;
He’d stick it in the pot, and whatever came up, the priest snagged it for himself. They were doing this in Shiloh with all the Israelites rolling through.
And he struck {it} into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.
Before they even burned the fat, the priest’s homie would roll up and say, "Yo, give me some raw meat to roast for the priest; he’s not about that boiled action."
Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.
If anyone was like, "Hold up, let them burn the fat first and take what you want," he’d be like, "Nah fam, give it to me now or I’m taking it."
And {if} any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and {then} take {as much} as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, {Nay}; but thou shalt give {it me} now: and if not, I will take {it} by force. {presently: Heb. as on the day}
So yeah, the sin of those young dudes was seriously savage in the Lord's eyes; people were not vibing with the Lord’s offerings.
Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.
But Samuel was out here serving the Lord as a kid, rocking a linen ephod.
But Samuel ministered before the LORD, {being} a child, girded with a linen ephod.
His mom made him a fresh little coat and brought it to him every year when she came up with her husband to drop off the yearly sacrifice.
Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought {it} to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, saying, "The Lord bless you with kids from this woman for the loan you gave to the Lord." Then they headed back home.
And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home. {loan...: or, petition which she asked, etc}
The Lord showed up for Hannah, and she had three sons and two daughters. Samuel was out here maturing in the Lord’s vibes.
And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.
Eli was super ancient and heard all the sus stuff his sons were doing to Israel, like hanging with the women at the tabernacle door.
Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled {at} the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. {assembled: Heb. assembled by troops}
He was like, "Why y’all acting like this? I hear all the gossip about your shady moves."
And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people. {of your...: or, evil words of you}
Nah, my dudes; that’s not a good look: you’re making the Lord’s people mess up.
Nay, my sons; for {it is} no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD'S people to transgress. {transgress: or, cry out}
If someone sins against another, the judge will take care of it; but if it’s against the Lord, who’s gonna have your back? They totally ignored their dad’s words 'cause the Lord was ready to take them out.
If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.
Samuel kept growing and was favored by both the Lord and people, no cap.
And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.
A man of God came to Eli and said, "Yo, did I not show up to your fam when they were in Egypt at Pharaoh’s crib?"
And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?
Did I not choose him from all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to vibe at my altar, burn incense, and rock an ephod before me? Did I not give your fam all the fire offerings from Israel?
And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel {to be} my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?
Why you trippin' on my sacrifices and offerings that I told you to do? You’re putting your sons over me and getting fat off the best offerings from my people?
Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded {in my} habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?
The Lord God of Israel says, "I said your house and your fam would be my peeps forever; but now I’m saying, nah, for those who honor me, I’ll honor them, and those who disrespect me? They’re getting played."
Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed {that} thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Yo, days are coming when I’m gonna cut off your fam’s strength, and there won’t be any old heads left in your crib.
Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.
You’ll see enemies chilling in my spot, taking all the blessings God’s dropping on Israel: no old dude in your house forever, no cap.
And thou shalt see an enemy {in my} habitation, in all {the wealth} which {God} shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever. {an enemy...: or, the affliction of the tabernacle, for all the wealth which God would have given Israel}
The dude from your crew, who I won’t take away from my altar, is gonna hurt your vibes and break your heart: all your fam’s gonna die young, periodt.
And the man of thine, {whom} I shall not cut off from mine altar, {shall be} to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age. {in the flower...: Heb. men}
Here’s the sign for you: your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are gonna get wrecked in the same day, fr.
And this {shall be} a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.
I’ll raise up a faithful priest who’s gonna vibe with my heart and mind: I’ll hook him up with a solid house; he’ll be lit before my anointed forever.
And I will raise me up a faithful priest, {that} shall do according to {that} which {is} in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
Everyone left in your house will come to him, begging for a little cash and some bread, saying, "Please, put me in one of the priest spots so I can munch on some bread."
And it shall come to pass, {that} every one that is left in thine house shall come {and} crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread. {Put: Heb. Join} {one of...: or, somewhat about the priesthood}
