1 Samuel Chapter 10
So Samuel poured some oil on his head, gave him a peck, and was like, "Ain't it 'cause the Lord just chose you to be the leader of His crew?"
Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured {it} upon his head, and kissed him, and said, {Is it} not because the LORD hath anointed thee {to be} captain over his inheritance?
Once you bounce from me today, you’re gonna spot two guys by Rachel’s tomb in Benjamin at Zelzah; they’ll say, "The donkeys you were hunting for? Found them! Your dad's trippin', saying, ‘What’s up with my son?’"
When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son? {care: Heb. business}
Next, you’ll keep it moving and hit the plain of Tabor, where you’ll bump into three dudes on their way to God at Beth-el; one’s got three goats, another’s carrying three loaves, and the last one’s got some wine.
Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
They’ll vibe with you and hand over two loaves of bread; just take it, fr.
And they will salute thee, and give thee two {loaves} of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands. {salute...: Heb. ask thee of peace}
After that, you’ll roll up to God’s hill, where the Philistines are hanging out; once you hit the city, you’ll spot a gang of prophets coming down from the high place with a lute, a tambourine, and a flute, and they’ll be prophesying.
After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where {is} the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:
The Spirit of the Lord will hit you, and you’ll start prophesying with them, like, you’ll transform into a whole new person.
And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
And when these signs unfold, just do what feels right; God’s got your back, no cap.
And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, {that} thou do as occasion serve thee; for God {is} with thee. {And...: Heb. And it shall come to pass, that when these signs, etc} {that...: Heb. do for thee as thine hand shall find}
You’ll head down to Gilgal, and I’ll pull up to you for some burnt offerings and peace sacrifices; just chill for seven days until I show up and give you the lowdown.
And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, {and} to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do.
It was lit, ‘cause when he turned to bounce from Samuel, God gave him a fresh heart, and all those signs went down that day.
And it was {so}, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day. {back: Heb. shoulder} {gave: Heb. turned}
When they hit the hill, a crew of prophets met him; the Spirit of God hit him, and he started prophesying with them.
And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.
When everyone who knew him peeped him vibing with the prophets, they were like, "What’s up with Kish's kid? Is Saul one of the prophets now?"
And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What {is} this {that} is come unto the son of Kish? {Is} Saul also among the prophets? {one...: Heb. a man to his neighbour}
And someone in the squad was like, "But who’s their dad though?" So it became a saying, 'Is Saul also among the prophets?'
And one of the same place answered and said, But who {is} their father? Therefore it became a proverb, {Is} Saul also among the prophets? {of...: Heb. from thence}
After he wrapped up prophesying, he rolled over to the high place.
And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.
Saul's uncle asked him and his homie, "Where’d you both go?" And he said, "We were searching for the donkeys, but when we couldn’t find them, we came to Samuel."
And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that {they were} no where, we came to Samuel.
Saul's uncle was like, "Spill the tea, what did Samuel drop on you?"
And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you.
Saul told his uncle, "He straight up said the donkeys were found, but he kept it on the down-low about the whole kingdom situation."
And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.
Samuel gathered everyone for the Lord at Mizpeh;
And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;
And he said to the Israelites, "Yo, the Lord God of Israel says, I brought you all outta Egypt and rescued you from the Egyptians and all those haters."
And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, {and} of them that oppressed you:
"But today y’all dissed your God, who saved you from all your struggles; and you were like, 'Nah, we want a king instead.' So now, step up before the Lord by your tribes and thousands."
And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, {Nay}, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.
When Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel forward, they picked the tribe of Benjamin.
And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken.
When they called the tribe of Benjamin, Matri's crew got selected, and Saul, Kish's kid, was chosen. But when they went to find him, dude was ghosting.
When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found.
So they asked the Lord again if the guy was still around. The Lord was like, "Yo, he’s hiding with the stuff."
Therefore they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.
They dashed to grab him, and when he stood up, he was taller than everyone else from the shoulders up.
And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.
Samuel was like, "Y’all peep this dude the Lord picked? Ain't nobody like him." And the crowd went wild, shouting, "God save the king!"
And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that {there is} none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king. {God...: Heb. Let the king live}
Then Samuel laid out the kingdom rules, wrote it all down, and placed it before the Lord. He sent everyone home, no cap.
Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote {it} in a book, and laid {it} up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.
Saul also headed back to Gibeah, and a squad of guys who were vibing with God rolled with him.
And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.
But some haters were like, "How’s this dude gonna save us?" They dissed him and didn’t bring him gifts. But he just stayed chill.
But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace. {held...: or, was as though he had been deaf}
