1 Peter Chapter 2
So like, get rid of all the drama, lies, and jealousy, and stop the toxic chatter, fr.
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Be like new babies craving that pure word milk so you can level up, no cap.
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
If you’ve experienced how fire the Lord is, you know the deal.
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord {is} gracious.
When you approach Him, He’s that living stone, overlooked by people but totally picked by God, and he’s straight-up precious.
To whom coming, {as unto} a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, {and} precious,
Y'all are also like lit stones, constructing a spiritual squad, a holy crew, ready to drop those good vibes to God through Jesus.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. {are: or, be ye}
Peep this, the scripture says, "I’m laying down a chief cornerstone in Sion, super precious: if you believe, you won’t trip."
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
For those who believe, He’s seriously precious; but for those who don’t, that stone they passed on? Yeah, He’s the main act now.
Unto you therefore which believe {he is} precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, {precious: or, an honour}
He’s a stumbling stone and a rock that trips up those who are disobedient, and they totally opted into that.
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, {even to them} which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
But you’re a chosen fam, a royal squad, a holy nation, one of a kind; showcase the praises of the one who pulled you from darkness into His epic light.
But ye {are} a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: {peculiar: or, purchased} {praises: or, virtues}
At one point, you were not a people, but now you’re the people of God; you didn’t have mercy back then, but now you’ve got it, periodt.
Which in time past {were} not a people, but {are} now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Yo, fam, I’m asking you as outsiders to hold back on the fleshly cravings that fight against your soul.
Dearly beloved, I beseech {you} as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Keep it 100 with the outsiders: they might trash talk you, but your good deeds will make them glorify God when the time is right.
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by {your} good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. {whereas: or, wherein}
Submit to every authority for the Lord’s sake: whether it’s the king, who’s the head honcho;
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
Or the governors, who are sent by him to keep the bad ones in line and give props to the good ones.
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
This is God’s plan, that by doing good, you can silence the clueless haters.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
Be free, but don’t let your freedom be shady; be solid servants of God instead.
As free, and not using {your} liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. {using: Gr. having}
Respect everyone. Love your crew. Fear God. Show respect to the king.
Honour all {men}. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. {Honour all: or, Esteem all}
Workers, be chill with your bosses, with all due respect; not just the cool ones, but even the tough ones.
Servants, {be} subject to {your} masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
This is solid if someone suffers for doing what’s right, keeping it 100 with God.
For this {is} thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. {thankworthy: or, thank}
What’s the point if you catch heat for your mess-ups and just accept it? But if you do good and still face heat, that’s what God wants.
For what glory {is it}, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer {for it}, ye take it patiently, this {is} acceptable with God. {acceptable: or, thank}
You were called to this: Christ suffered for us, showing us how to roll.
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: {for us: some read, for you}
He did no wrong, no lies came from His mouth, fr.
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
When He got called out, He didn’t clap back; when He suffered, He didn’t threaten; He just trusted the one who judges right.
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed {himself} to him that judgeth righteously: {himself: or, his cause}
He bore our sins on His own body on that tree, so we could be dead to sin and live for what’s right; by His wounds, we’re healed.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. {on: or, to}
You were like lost sheep, but now you’ve returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
