1 Kings Chapter 5
So Hiram, the king of Tyre, slid into Solomon’s DMs after hearing he got crowned instead of his pops. Hiram was always vibing with David.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David. {Hiram: also called, Huram}
Solomon hit Hiram up, saying,
And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
You peep how my dad David couldn’t throw up a crib for the Lord 'cause he was dealing with all those haters, until God put them in check.
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
But now, my God has blessed me with chill vibes all around, so there’s no drama or bad energy.
But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, {so that there is} neither adversary nor evil occurrent.
So listen, I’m planning to craft a house for the Lord, just like He told my pops David, saying, "Your son, who I’m putting on the throne, will build a crib for my name."
And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name. {purpose: Heb. say}
So, get your crew to chop me some cedar trees from Lebanon; my squad will vibe with yours, and I’ll drop some cash for your peeps based on what you decide, ‘cause you know no one chops wood like the Sidonians.
Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that {there is} not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians. {appoint: Heb. say}
When Hiram peeped Solomon’s words, he got hyped and said, "Blessed be the Lord today for giving David a wise son for this dope people."
And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed {be} the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.
Hiram messaged Solomon back, saying, "I’ve thought about your request, and I’ll hook you up with all the cedar and fir wood you want."
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: {and} I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir. {considered: Heb. heard}
My crew will bring it down from Lebanon to the sea, and I’ll ship it by sea to wherever you tell me, making sure it’s offloaded there for my fam.
My servants shall bring {them} down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive {them}: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household. {appoint: Heb. send}
So Hiram sent Solomon cedar and fir trees, just like he wanted.
So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees {according to} all his desire.
Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for his fam's grub, plus twenty measures of pure oil; that’s how Solomon rolled with Hiram every year.
And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat {for} food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year. {measures: Heb. cors}
And the Lord dropped mad wisdom on Solomon like He promised, creating peace between Hiram and Solomon; they made a pact together.
And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.
King Solomon gathered a squad from all Israel; it was thirty thousand deep.
And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men. {levy: Heb. tribute of men}
He sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month on rotation: they’d chill in Lebanon for a month and then be back home for two months; Adoniram was leading the squad.
And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, {and} two months at home: and Adoniram {was} over the levy.
Solomon had seventy thousand who carried loads and eighty thousand woodchoppers in the hills;
And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;
Plus, there were three thousand three hundred of Solomon’s top officers overseeing the crew working on the project.
Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which {were} over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
The king gave the order, and they brought in massive, expensive stones, and cut stones to lay the foundation of the house.
And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, {and} hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders teamed up to cut them, getting the timber and stones ready to build the house.
And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew {them}, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house. {stonesquares: or, Giblites}
