1 Corinthians Chapter 14
Chase after those love vibes, and seriously go for those spiritual gifts, because prophesying is where it’s at.
Follow after charity, and desire spiritual {gifts}, but rather that ye may prophesy.
If you're out here speaking a language that nobody understands, you're not connecting with the people, just God: fr, it’s all mysteries in the spirit.
For he that speaketh in an {unknown} tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth {him}; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. {understandeth: Gr. heareth}
When you prophesy though, you’re dropping knowledge for the crew, giving them strength and comfort.
But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men {to} edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
Speaking in a language no one knows is just for your own hype, but prophesying? That’s how you lift everyone up.
He that speaketh in an {unknown} tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
Honestly, I wish everyone was flexing their tongues, but prophesying is way more lit: it’s a bigger deal unless you can break it down so the church can feel it.
I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater {is} he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
If I show up speaking in tongues, what’s the point if I’m not delivering wisdom or prophesying?
Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
Even inanimate things making noise, like pipes or harps, need to have their own distinct sound; otherwise, how do we even know what’s jamming?
And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? {sounds: or, tunes}
If the trumpet sounds out confusingly, who’s ready to get down in battle?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
Same for you; if you’re not dropping clear words, how's anyone supposed to know what’s being said? You’ll just be chatting to the void.
So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. {easy...: Gr. significant}
There are so many different voices out there, and none of them are random; they all carry a meaning.
There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them {is} without signification.
If I can’t vibe with the voice, I’m just gonna sound like a total rookie, and the speaker's gonna think I’m sus too.
Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh {shall be} a barbarian unto me.
Y'all are super hyped about those spiritual gifts, so just pop off and boost the church, fr.
Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual {gifts}, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. {of spiritual gifts: Gr. of spirits}
If you're speaking in a tongue no one understands, just pray for the skills to interpret it.
Wherefore let him that speaketh in an {unknown} tongue pray that he may interpret.
If I pray in a tongue I don’t comprehend, my spirit’s on fire but my mind's like, "Nah, this ain't it."
For if I pray in an {unknown} tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
So what’s the deal? I’m gonna pray with my spirit and also keep it real with my understanding; I’ll sing with both, no cap.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
If you bless with your spirit, how's the clueless homie gonna say Amen when they don’t get what you’re saying?
Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
For real, you give thanks like a champ, but the others ain't catching the vibes.
For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
I thank my God, I’m out here speaking in tongues more than all y’all put together, periodt.
I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
But in the church, I’d rather drop five words that hit home than ten thousand in a tongue nobody gets, fr.
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that {by my voice} I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an {unknown} tongue.
Fam, don’t act like kids when it comes to understanding: be savage in malice but mature in understanding.
Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. {men: Gr. perfect, or, of a ripe age}
The law’s got it on lock: I’m gonna vibe with this crew in different languages, but no cap, they still won’t hear me, says the Lord.
In the law it is written, With {men of} other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
So, tongues are a sign, not for the believers but for the skeptics; but prophesying is for the believers, for real.
Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying {serveth} not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
If the whole crew comes together and everyone’s speaking in tongues, and some clueless peeps walk in, they’re gonna think y’all are wildin’.
If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in {those that are} unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
But if everyone’s prophesying, and a non-believer or a newbie steps in, they’ll get shook and realize what’s up.
But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or {one} unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
That’s when the secrets of their hearts get revealed; they’ll hit the floor, worship God, and know for sure that God’s in the house.
And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on {his} face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
So, fam, when you gather, everyone’s got a psalm, a teaching, a tongue, a revelation, or an interpretation. Let’s keep it lit and uplift each other.
How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
If someone’s speaking in a tongue nobody knows, let it be a max of two or three, and they gotta take turns; and someone’s gotta interpret.
If any man speak in an {unknown} tongue, {let it be} by two, or at the most {by} three, and {that} by course; and let one interpret. {two...: by two or three sentences separately}
But if there’s no interpreter, just chill in the church; talk to yourself and God instead.
But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
Let the prophets share two or three, and let the others weigh in on what's being said.
Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
If something's revealed to someone else sitting there, the first one should keep it low-key.
If {any thing} be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
Everyone can share their vibes one at a time so we all learn and feel comforted, fr.
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
The spirits of the prophets gotta chill with the prophets, no cap.
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
God ain’t about that confusion life; He’s all about peace, like in all the church fams.
For God is not {the author} of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. {confusion: Gr. tumult, or, unquietness}
Ladies gotta keep it low-key in church, because they can’t speak; they gotta stay obedient, periodt.
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but {they are commanded} to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
If they wanna learn something, they should just ask their husbands at home; it’s sus for women to chat in church.
And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Wait, did God’s word only drop from you guys, or is it just for you?
What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
If anyone thinks they’re a prophet or spiritual, they better recognize that what I’m saying are God’s rules.
If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
But if someone’s clueless, let them stay clueless.
But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
So, fam, go for prophesying and don’t stop the tongues from flowing.
Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
Keep everything organized and in order, that’s the vibe.
Let all things be done decently and in order.
