1 Chronicles Chapter 14
So Hiram, the king of Tyre, slid into David's DMs with messengers and hooked him up with some epic cedar wood, plus masons and carpenters to whip up a fresh crib.
Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
David noticed that the Lord had totally solidified his king status over Israel, since his kingdom was vibing high, all thanks to his crew.
And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
Out here, David was stacking more wives in Jerusalem, and he had a full squad of sons and daughters.
And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters. {more: Heb. yet}
Check it, here are the names of his kids he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, all just chilling.
Now these {are} the names of {his} children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
Then there’s Ibhar, Elishua, and Elpalet, just hanging in the fam.
And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
Also, Nogah, Nepheg, and Japhia joined the crew.
And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
Don’t sleep on Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphalet, just living their best lives.
And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet. {Beeliada: also called, Eliada}
When the Philistines got wind that David was the new king, they pulled up to hunt him down. David peeped the vibe and stepped out to meet them.
And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard {of it}, and went out against them.
The Philistines rolled in and spread out in the valley of Rephaim, ready to brawl.
And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
David hit up God, asking, "Should I go at the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" And the Lord responded, "Do it; I’ve got your back."
And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
So they cruised over to Baal–perazim, and David wrecked them there. He was like, "God just smashed through my enemies like a flood!" That’s why they dubbed the place Baal–perazim.
So they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim. {Baalperazim: that is, A place of breaches}
After they ditched their gods, David called it, and they got burned in the fire.
And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
The Philistines came back for round two and spread out again in the valley, trying their luck once more.
And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
David asked God again, and God said, "Don’t chase them; just turn around and hit them from the side by the mulberry trees."
Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
When you catch a sound in the treetops, that’s your sign to hit the battlefield; God’s already out there wrecking the Philistine squad.
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, {that} then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
David followed God’s orders, and they crushed the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gazer.
David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer. {Gibeon: also called, Geba}
David’s fame was skyrocketing, and the Lord made all the nations fear him.
And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
